## Preparing for the Test

---

### Step 1: Read your CLT Email about how to Access your Account

After your order has been processed by CLT, you will receive an order confirmation email that also includes information on accessing your CLT3-8 account. This email includes your login information, as well as testing dates, any relevant updates, and score release information.

### Step 2: Log into your CLT Account

Use the username provided in your email from CLT to reset your password (if you are signing in for the first time) and [log into your account](https://app2.cltexam.com/manager/dashboard). The email also includes the login link.

Be sure you are on the CLT3-8 side of the dashboard. The toggle to switch is in the top left corner of the page.

### Step 3: Familiarize yourself with your CLT Acccount

There are four different menu options on your account. "Dashboard" is the home page. "Registrations" will show your registrations and allow you to roster your students and see their test progress. "Analytics" will show student score reports after they have been released. "Test Resources" includes all necessary testing materials, including the proctor scripts.

Before/during the exam, you will spend most of your time in the "Registrations" and "Test Resources" tabs.

## Setting Up

---

### Step 4: Roster your Students

Before you are ready to test your students, you will need to roster them from the "Registrations" tab. Rostering your students means inputting their identifying information (name, date of birth, etc.) before they take their exams. You can do this at any point before you give the exams.

[Instructions for CLT3-8 Rostering](https://info.cltexam.com/instructions-for-clt-3-8-rostering?hsLang=en)

### Step 5: Read Test Administration Materials

Be sure to read over the Test Administration Manual and the appropriate proctor script(s) before you give the exam. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the exam set up and instructions to ensure a smooth testing experience.

### Step 6: Set Up Your Testing Device(s) and Space

Set up for CLT3-8 exams is very minimal! You can review the technical requirements [here](https://info.cltexam.com/clt3-8-online-test-administration-manual#tech-and-facility).

There are no specific requirements for room set up for at-home testers. In general, we recommend you choose a space that is free of distractions and comfortable for testing. Any math and english educational materials should be removed from the walls.

### Step 7: Schedule Enough Time to Complete Each Section

Ensure you set aside enough time to complete each section in one sitting. The exact timing of the exam is up to your discretion, but sections cannot be split over multiple days. You can review CLT's timing recommendations [here](https://info.cltexam.com/clt3-8-online-test-administration-manual#timing-guidelines).

## Taking the Exams

---

### Step 8: Locate your Student's Codes

Once you are ready to begin their exams, you will need to locate the relevant test codes. All students will have both a Test Access Code and a Student Test Code. You will have one access code for each test type you are administering, and a unique Student Test Code for each individual student. The Student Test Code will only appear after the student is rostered.

![test codes (1)](https://info.cltexam.com/hs-fs/hubfs/test%20codes%20(1).png?width=2000&height=708&name=test%20codes%20(1).png "test codes (1)")

### Step 9: Go to test.cltexam.com

To begin the exam, students will go to the test URL. This is linked in the proctor materials, as well as on the CLT dashboard (pictured right).

![test codes (4)](https://info.cltexam.com/hs-fs/hubfs/test%20codes%20(4).png?width=2000&height=781&name=test%20codes%20(4).png "test codes (4)")

### Step 10: Input Codes and Ensure the Information Matches

At this point, you should begin reading the [proctor script](https://info.cltexam.com/clt3-8-online-test-administration-manual#scripts-etc) to your students.

The page will ask for the Test Access Code and then the Student Test Code.

Finally, it will ask you to confirm the student's first name and last initial. Once this information is confirmed, your student can start the exam!

### Step 11: Begin the Exam

You are now ready to begin the test! Encourage your students to try their best on all questions they encounter. Some questions will be easy, and others may be challenging. This is intentional, and students should not feel discouraged if they do not know the answer.

Students should answer to the best of their ability. Because the exam is designed to accurately measure where each student is academically, it will naturally include content that is below, at, and above their grade/knowledge level.
