A Brief Update on Today’s Texas News
This afternoon, an email was sent highlighting exciting progress regarding CLT in Texas. To provide additional context, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board voted at its July 22nd meeting to move forward with considering the CLT as an approved college entrance exam for undergraduate admissions. If the process is completed as anticipated, the change would apply to students who begin studies at Texas public colleges and universities beginning in Fall 2028.
While a few additional steps remain before the process is finalized, today’s action marks a major milestone and reflects growing momentum for expanded assessment choice in Texas.
We are especially grateful to Chair Stacy Hock for her leadership, as well as to the many educators, institutions, and supporters who have helped make this progress possible. We look forward to sharing additional updates as the process continues.
