Guide to CLT for

In-School Administration

Thank you for partnering with CLT to provide meaningful assessments for your students this academic year! We are grateful for your trust in our team and look forward to connecting with you in the coming weeks and months ahead.

This page provides a general reference for our CLT and CLT10 testing procedures. It is not intended to replace our Test Administration Manuals, which provide comprehensive instructions for testing coordinators and proctors about administering the test.

For information about CLT3-8 testing procedures, see the testing resources on your CLT3-8 administrator dashboard.

General

Lower Grade Assessments

Starting with the Spring 2024 administration from April 22 - May 17, we will be offering a full suite of Lower Grade Assessments (CLT3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

If you are administering the CLT3-8 exams this Spring, you can access the administration manuals and testing resources all on your CLT3-8 test manager account.

Please see here and speak with your sales representative for more information.

General Communication Policy

All test administration emails coming from CLT will come from the schoolsupport@cltexam.com email address. Please ensure that this address is in your address book and that your email client does not flag our emails as spam or marketing.

It is CLT’s policy that we communicate all testing information to a single point of contact (testing coordinator) at the client school. We do not communicate with other stakeholders, such as accommodations or proctors, during the test preparation process. The role of delegating those various roles falls to the school’s designated testing coordinator.

CLT Points of Contact

We currently offer the CLT Suite in the following modes. See the Updates section for more information about the Lower Grade Assessments.

Online, In School Online, At Home, Parent Proctored Online, At Home, Remotely Proctored Paper, In School
CLT X   X X
CLT10 X X   X
CLT3-8 X X   X

The schedule of communication (see below) is identical for all of the different test types. There are significant differences in the registration deadlines (deadline to submit an order) between online and paper.

➡️ See the test dates and deadlines documents for our current set of offerings for the academic year 2023-2024, and speak with your sales representative to find out more about the specifics of different test modes.

Ordering Tests

Please use the following landing pages to order tests for your school. See the test dates and deadlines documents for our current set of offerings for the academic year 2023-2024.

➡️Please note that you must place an order before you upload students into our system.

For any billing and invoicing questions, please contact your sales representative.

When you place an order for the first time, CLT will create and administrator account and email login credentials for the designated testing coordinator. By default, this is the person placing the order. You can request to give administrator access to school personnel by emailing schoolsupport@cltexam.com.

A CLT administrator account can be accessed by logging in at cltexam.com. It gives our partners the ability to:

  • upload and register students for particular tests (see below)
  • view analytics for past tests

Pre-Test

  • CLT communicates directly with a testing coordinator point of contact at the school to distribute administration information, and coordinate the details of test day. We do not involve district contacts or proctors in the operational aspect of test administration. We ask a single point of contact to ensure communication with internal stakeholders, including parents and students.
  • CLT will reach out to each individual school to set up a testing coordinator relationship. We will set up a ticket in our system for each school, for each test, to track test administration progress. Testing coordinators will receive a series of emails from us with action items. CLT begins communication with testing coordinators 6 - 8 weeks before the test date, and sends bi-weekly informational emails leading up to the test. See below for a generic schedule of communication.

  • All accommodations requests must be submitted 4 weeks before the test date.
  • For accommodations requests, the testing coordinator, or the party responsible for coordinating accommodations, will communicate separately with CLT’s accommodations department at cltaccommodations@cltexam.com.
  • Review the CLT Accommodations Documentation Guidelines before submitting requests.
  • Please see our Testing Accommodations page for information on how to submit accommodation requests for each student.
  • For ELL accommodations for students testing in school, please see this document.

In order to take a CLT exam, a student must have an account with CLT by means of an email address. Students will use this email address to access their CLT portal on test day. Students testing on paper must also have an email account so that CLT can upload their score into our system.

To register a student for a particular exam, an administrator must upload a spreadsheet of student emails. This is also sometimes referred to as uploading or importing. If a student does not already have an account, this action will create one for them in our system.

➡️ See the student import instructions for administrators for specific instructions.

  • It is the responsibility of the main testing coordinator to prepare proctors for test day at the schools. To do this, please read through the appropriate administration manuals and communicate that information to proctors. Please note that these manuals are digital and therefore are optimized for viewing on a digital device.
  • If you are administering the test online, it is also recommended that you organize a trial run with your students in the weeks before the test. This, so that you can troubleshoot login and profile information. Doing a trial run and working with our customer service team before the test significantly reduces the potential for issues on test day.

Test Day

CLT will provide customer service on test day itself via live chat and phones on cltexam.com. Administrators and proctors should use the live chat for the quickest response. The customer service team prioritizes the chat on test day over phones or emails.
