Remotely Proctored Testing

The remotely proctored CLT is a version of the CLT that students take at home with their own computers. The exam is recorded (not live-proctored) and later reviewed by CLT staff. This page details what unique expectations students should have for their remotely proctored test.

The information on this page applies only to the remotely proctored CLT. It does not pertain to the CLT3-8, CLT10, or in-school CLT. For more information about requirements for those exams, see our Test Day Expectations page.

Overview

The exam takes about two hours and twenty minutes, including pre-test instructions and procedures. The three 40-question sections follow the order and timing below:

      • Section 1 – Verbal Reasoning: 40 minutes
      • Section 2 – Grammar/Writing: 35 minutes
      • Section 3 – Quantitative Reasoning: 45 minutes
      • This exam has no essay section.

There are no breaks during the exam, except for optional one-minute stretch breaks between sections.

Students may choose when to begin their exam between 7 AM - 7 PM Eastern Time. The test must be taken in one sitting; there are no breaks. Customer support via live online chat is available during this time.

The exam contains 120 questions and is scored in the range of 0 – 120 points.

Pending successful review, scores will be released on the third Wednesday following the exam. You will receive an email when they have been posted to your CLT dashboard.

Your video, screen, audio, and keystrokes will be recorded during the test and reviewed afterward. There is no live proctor during the exam. Students must be alone while testing.

Recordings are stored in a secure location and deleted within 45 days.
